Portable Appliance Testing

All places of work contain a variety of electrical appliances that are portable, movable, handheld, stationary or fixed. The regulations make clear that there is a requirement to inspect and test all types of electrical equipment in all work situations.

The recommended testing and inspection frequency varies depending on the type of equipment and the environment in which it is used. Frequencies can range from 3 months up to 48 months, but many choose every 12 months as a reasonable testing and inspection regime.

You can be sure that the breakdown of electrical appliances will be dangerous and could even be fatal. Without a certificate of testing you run the risk not only of invalidating your commercial insurance policy, but also of prosecution.

The Power Service offers a Portable Appliance Testing (PAT testing) service that ensures our clients comply with current regulations. The Power Service can provide:

  • A free consultation on PAT testing and the route to compliance
  • Testing and Inspection of electrical appliances
  • Labelling and Inventory of electrical appliances
  • Reports and Certificates for passed and failed items
  • Timely reminders of next inspections due
